How To Become A Pilot

Student Pilot:

  • Be 16 Years old
  • Read and understand the English language
  • Be able to pass a Third Class Medical Exam

Private Pilot:

  • Be 17 Years old
  • Pass a Written, Oral and Practical Flight Test
  • Have a Minimum of 40 Hours flight time (20 Dual, 20 Solo to include 3 night and 10 cross country hours)
  • Pass a Third Class FAA Medical Exam

Instrument Rating:

  • Hold a Current FAA Private Pilot Certificate
  • Pass a Written, Oral and Practical Flight Test
  • Minimum of 40 hours flight time
  • 50 Hours of Pilot in Command time cross country
  • 15 hours of Instrument Flight instruction

Commercial Pilot:

  • 18 Years old
  • Hold a current FAA Private Pilot Certificate
  • Have an instrument rating
  • Hold a current third Class Medical
  • Pass a written, Oral and Practical Flight Test
  • Have a Minimum 250 hours of Flight Time
  • 20 Hours of Instruction
  • 10 hours of Complex Aircraft Flight Training
  • 10 Hours of Solo flight to include 5 Hours of Night and one cross country of over 300 nautical miles
