NOTE: These estimates are based on the national average. More or less time
may be needed, and is determined on an individual basis. The FAA requires a minimum
40 hours of flight instruction in preparation for the Practical Flight Test. Not
included in the estimate is the FAA Flight Physical, which averages between $60
to $90. A headset is required for better communication between the student, instructor
and air traffic control. A headset is available on loan for the first few lessons.
The type and cost of headsets can vary greatly and it should be discussed with an
instructor prior to any purchase. Finally, due to the increased cost of insurance,
a quarterly insurance supplement of $30 is charged at the beginning of each quarter.
This helps keep the aircraft hourly rental cost down. |
