| NOTE: These estimates are based on the national average.
More or less time may be needed, and is determined on an individual basis. The
FAA requires a minimum 40 hours of flight instruction in preparation for the
Practical Flight Test. Not included in the estimate is the FAA Flight Physical,
which averages between $60 to $90. A headset is required for better
communication between the student, instructor and air traffic control. A
headset is available on loan for the first few lessons. The type and cost of
headsets can vary greatly and it should be discussed with an instructor prior
to any purchase. Finally, due to the increased cost of insurance, a quarterly
insurance supplement of $30 is charged at the beginning of each quarter. This
helps keep the aircraft hourly rental cost down. |
